Forbes magazine: The Grand Egyptian Museum is the third most visited museum in the world

The Cabinet Media Center highlighted a report published by Forbes magazine in June 2026, entitled “The New Grand Egyptian Museum… Egypt’s Newest Tourist Gem, receiving 7 million visitors” as it has become one of the most prominent tourist and cultural destinations in the world, having received about 7 million visitors since its opening in November 2025, including more than 45% of international tourists, making it the third most visited museum in the world.

The media center pointed out that the report praised the museum as the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to one civilization, as it includes more than 100,000 artifacts covering about five thousand years of Egyptian history, and displays for the first time the complete collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures, which includes more than 5,000 artifacts inside exhibition halls extending over an area of ​​7,500 square meters.

As added that the report highlighted the museum’s reception of its visitors with a statue of King Ramses II, which dates back about 3,200 years, in addition to exhibits extending from pre-dynastic times to the Greco-Roman era, in an experience that mixes digital and traditional display methods.

The media center confirmed, according to what was stated in the report, that Egypt offers its visitors various tourist experiences, including the Giza pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Cairo, beach tourism, eco-tourism, and adventure tourism, in addition to the Holy Family Trail and the religious complex, with expanding Nile Cruise in Egypt, In addition to the new city of El Alamein, which includes more than 15,000 hotel rooms, shops, a university, and an international airport, as part of the expansion of Egyptian tourism potential.

The report indicated that the Egyptian government aims to receive 30 million tourists by 2030, explaining that Egypt received 15.7 million tourists during 2024, before the number rose to 19 million tourists in 2025, an increase of 21%, exceeding the global average growth of 5%, driven by a 32% increase in charter flights to Egyptian tourist destinations.
